In April 2003 the Victorian Government Department of Infrastructure through its Multi Media Victoria department commissioned Learningfast to develop online training which could be accessed in remote and regional parts of the state and provide Victorians with an easy and simple way to learn how to use the internet.

As part of the deployment, the content was translated into the following 11 community based languages and hosted by the Learningfast Learning Management System:

  • English
  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Vietnamese
  • Turkish
  • Russian
  • Greek
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • Croatian
  • Polish

In October 2003 the Victorian Government Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Ms. Marsha Thomson, launched the site, i@, saying “The site is easy to use and allows people to learn at their own pace and in their own language, whether it be at home or at a community location…. We've made the site available in 11 languages because we understand that people from non-English speaking backgrounds have had difficulty learning how to use the Internet when most instructions are in English."

The site can be found at www.internet-access.vic.gov.au

Brisbane City Council

In 2001 the Brisbane City Council Library Service became one of the first Learningfast customers when it announced that their network of public libraries will use the Learningfast online learning solutions to deliver training to more than 5000 library patrons and staff.

Since then the Learningfast web-based training solutions has formed an important part of the libraries' efforts to provide convenient and affordable access to computers and computer training.

“We chose the Learningfast products as they provided an efficient and cost-effective structure for Internet and computer training suitable for the general public and our library staff.”

“One of the chief aims of all Queensland libraries is to tackle the 'digital divide' and provide computer access and training for those who don't normally have such access”

Brisbane libraries are also using the learningfast training tools for professional development providing staff with the skills required to work efficiently in the information age. With the focus of education moving towards information and computer literacy and providing a foundation on which people can build evolving skills sets, it's important for library staff to remain up to date with the new technology.

The Learningfast web-based programs deliver interactive training to the desktop with no plugins or downloads making them fast and easy to use.
